Eden Hazard Biography
Eden Hazard is a Belgian professional footballer who plays for the English club Chelsea and the Belgium national team. He plays as an attacking midfielder and as a wide midfielder. Hazard’s creativity, speed, and technical ability are widely acknowledged.
He has since earned over 90 caps, and was a member of the Belgian squad which reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2016. He was named Belgium captain for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and having led his nation to the semi-finals he received the Silver Ball as the second best player of the tournament.

In 2005, he moved to France joining first division club Lille. Hazard spent two years in the club’s academy and, at the age of 16, made his professional debut in November 2007 in which he entered the field as a substitute in the 78th minute. He went on to become an integral part of Lille under manager Rudi Garcia, racking up over 190 appearances.
In his first full season as a starter, he won the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) Young Player of the Year award, becoming the first non-French player to win the award. In the 2009–10 season, Hazard captured the award again, becoming the first player to win the award twice. He was also named to the league’s Team of the Year.

In June 2012, Chelsea officials reached an agreement with Lille to sign Hazard into their team. He played his first game for the team in a pre-season friendly match against the Seattle Sounders on July 18, 2012.
During the 2012–13 season, he was suspended for three games after he accidentally kicked the ball-boy who was intentionally lying on the ball in order to waste time. In the next season, he was among the 23 players nominated for the prestigious ‘FIFA Ballon d’Or’ honor. While he lost the ‘PFA Player of the Year’ award to Luis Suárez that year, he managed to win the ‘PFA Young Player of the Year’ award.
He signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea on February 12, 2015. That season, he earned the honor of the best player, winning the ‘PFA Player of the Year’ award. He was also voted the Chelsea’s ‘Player of the Year’ for second time, becoming only the fifth player to achieve this feat in consecutive years.
After remaining scoreless during 30 matches in the beginning of the 2015-16 season, he regained form in the latter half of the season. He kept performing throughout the next season, leading his team to 12 consecutive league victories, and was named in the ‘PFA Team of the Year’ for the fourth time during his five-year stay at Chelsea.

Hazard was appointed captain of Belgium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He has since scored twice (which included a penalty) in their second group stage victory against Tunisia. His penalty goal in the 6th minute was the team’s second quickest goal ever in the history of the tournament.
